llama trekking leaflet

The trekking involves the llamas carrying all your belongings, waterproofs, picnic, sweatshirts etc, also table and chairs when needed. You are then in charge of your llama and we go for a walk around Saddleworth, they are very easy to handle and walk at a leisurely pace. They do not make any sounds except a 'humming' noise as they talk to each other. We cater for all ages of children and adults including birthday party's, anniversary's, team building days, and staff Christmas day out with a difference. , We also do vouchers.

Our stopping points are pubs include the White Lion pub in Delph that is very friendly, and pubs in Denshaw; also picnic sites around Castleshaw and a lovely cafe in Delph.

So why not do something out of the ordinary and give it a go . You will get a very warm welcome and a tour of the other animals on the farm. Please book soon as the weekends are busy.

The treks are as follows:
• 2-hour trek around Oxhey Top and Heights, Delph, includes an inn stop or a picnic. Great views and wild life and a frendly pub.
• 4-hour trek that covers 5 miles with several stops to take in the views and wild life. This takes us through Castleshaw and up onto Lark hill where the view is breathtaking. This also includes an inn stop, cafe or picnic. 5 hours if we take a stop at the Roman Fort !
• 4 - 1/2 hours will take us along Denshaw into Castleshaw where we call to see the Roman Fort (the banks and ditches have been reconstructed to give visitors an impression of the buildings). Information panels on site give an in-depth history of the fort. Inn stop, cafe or picnic included.

Stout footwear is required as some of the treks are stoney. Also waterproofs as we have no control over our lovely climate.

Prices are per person £5.00 adults £2.50 per child per hour. Mimimum 2 adults to a llama. Food is not included in the price.

Here at Higher Oxhey Farm we have a selection of ducks and chickens for you to see, also miniature horses and some very frendly Ryeland sheep, baby Llamas and lots of others. We also sell baby French lop eared rabbits and free range eggs - all for you to see with each trek booked.
